Johannesburg, South Africa – Friday, 29 October 2021 – Idols SA 16 winner, Zama marks In The Beginning pre-orders with Is’thunzi.
Winner of popular singing competition, Idols South Africa, season 16; Zama Khumalo has had a whirlwind of a year. Between walking away with R1 million and finding love on the show with fellow contestant Brandon Dhludhlu. The angelic musician marked her first lead single in December 2020 with the release of her afropop ballad, Ndizobizwa.
In the time since the release of her debut single, the musician has been hard at work on her much-anticipated debut studio album In The Beginning. Officially announced by record label head, Kalawa Jazmee’s Oskido on Sunday, 18 October 2021. Zama gives the first snippet of the album with lead single, Is’thunzi.
The soon-to-be break up anthem is the surprise single from the musician as she taps into siSwati in order to sing about the demise of a relationship due to infidelity. This is told over a jovial, moody production which lets the musician’s sweet tone fly. A teaser for the upcoming album states that:

Is’thunzi is the mid-tempo single by Zama. Known for being an isiZulu singer, the soulful musician showcases her linguistic versatility by singing in siSwati. Providing a mid-tempo, moody single. The single relies on the musician’s angelic voice and the accompanying harmonies.
While the arrangement of the single provides an upbeat mid-tempo groove. Lyrically, the song tells the harrowing story of a woman disrespected by her love interest’s dalliance, which as a result has cast a shadow on her dignity. The song speaks to what it feels like to be in a relationship with a man you know is unfaithful.
