Nasty C Returns With Empowering Album FREE

South Africa’s hip-hop powerhouse Nasty C has officially dropped his highly anticipated 5th studio album, FREE, out now via his own independent label Tall Racks Records.

The 15-track project sees the multi-award-winning rapper, songwriter, and producer step into a new era of independence, creating boldly on his own terms. Featuring collaborations with Blxckie, Usimamane, and more, FREE is both a sonic evolution and a declaration of self-liberation.

“With this album I feel very free,” Nasty C shares. “Free to create and express myself however I want. Releasing this project on my own label, Tall Racks, just means a lot. It speaks to freedom.”

From hard-hitting rap anthems like Psychic to introspective gems like Head Up, the album balances bravado with vulnerability. Current single Leftie featuring Blxckie showcases Nasty C’s lyrical sharpness, while Soft featuring Usimamane celebrates the hustle and perseverance.

Beyond the music, Nasty C has kept fans talking with his “odd jobs” experiment – working shifts at a grocery store, mechanic’s shop, and barbershop – a move that reflects the grounded spirit of FREE.

With over 1 billion streams, nearly 2M monthly listeners on Spotify, and a global fan base stretching across continents, Nasty C continues to redefine African hip hop for the world stage.

From Rap Roots to Amapiano Soul — Mphoza Maizy Drops Emotional Debut ‘Wangthembisa’

Published

on

The South African music scene continues to evolve, producing fresh talent that blends emotion, rhythm, and storytelling — and Mphoza Maizy is one of those voices ready to make his mark.

Born Mpho Titus Mkhabela in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, Mphoza Maizy began his musical journey in 2015 as part of the rap collective Fame Squad, performing under the name Slow Rapper. His early years in hip-hop shaped his lyrical depth and confidence, but his heart eventually led him toward a sound that allowed him to express more than words — Amapiano.

Now signed under Above The Average (PTY) Ltd, Mphoza steps into a new chapter with his debut single “Wangthembisa (You Promised Me)”, featuring Psyphr LXRD and Spiro Beats. Recorded in Mbombela and produced by Clinton Senzo ‘Spiro Beats’ Mbatha, the song is a heartfelt Amapiano masterpiece that explores themes of love, promises, and heartbreak.

“This song is about real emotion,” says Mphoza. “It speaks to anyone who’s ever believed in love that didn’t keep its word. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it’s my story.”

With smooth vocals, relatable lyrics, and warm, layered production, “Wangthembisa” captures the essence of modern Amapiano — blending soulful storytelling with grooves that resonate beyond the dancefloor. The single not only highlights Mphoza’s natural vocal tone but also showcases the chemistry between him, Psyphr LXRD, and Spiro Beats.
Influenced by artists such as Young Thug and Future, Mphoza Maizy’s sound bridges the gap between introspection and rhythm — combining emotion with movement. His goal is simple: to make music that feels real, connects deeply, and speaks to life’s highs and lows.

With “Wangthembisa (You Promised Me)”, Mphoza Maizy cements his arrival as a new voice in Amapiano — one that carries heart, honesty, and purpose.
