This past Thursday evening, the DJ Sumbody Foundation officially launched with a heartfelt gala dinner, marking two years since the tragic passing of the beloved DJ and philanthropist.
The event, held in Pretoria, brought together influential figures from the entertainment industry, including Lamiez Holworthy, Cassper Nyovest, Abidoza, and Mvelo Makhanya.
The foundation, established by DJ Sumbody’s family and friends, aims to continue his charitable work through music, art, and educational initiatives. Its goal is to support and uplift the youth of South Africa, providing resources and opportunities for growth.
Lamiez Holworthy, who credited her radio career to Sumbody’s inspiration, said, “DJ Sumbody’s show on a local radio station changed the radio scene in Pretoria forever.”
The gala dinner featured a pledge session, where attendees were invited to contribute to various causes, including:
– Painting a school: R60,000
– School shoes: 300 pairs, R60,000
– School bags: 300 bags, R75,000
– Stationery packs: 300 packs, R45,000
– Sanitary pads: 1,000 packs, R25,000
– Christmas food drive packages: 200 packages, R100,000
The event also marked the release of DJ Sumbody’s new single, “SUMBODY Nice,” produced by Junior Taurus and featuring vocals by Murumba Pitch.

In addition, the DJ Sumbody Foundation announced a collaboration with local clothing brand GALXBOY. Thatiso Dube, founder of GALXBOY, said, “We first soft-launched our collaboration with DJ Sumbody in 2021. Since then, we’ve added more designs to the capsule. We hope fans of the late star will enjoy this drop.”
The foundation also announced its involvement in the Flavour Market, an outdoor event designed for the people and showcasing the culture of markets in townships.
