Kimberly-born hip hop artist, Sipho the Gift, has just shared his new body of work for the rap purists called Lotuk (Legend of the Underground King) as promised. This new project is said to blend gritty lyrics with soulful samples, ominous basslines and 808s as Sipho tells a story of tenacity and dedication to his chosen path. Lotuk consists of about 11 tracks in total with features from YoungstaCPT, ASAP Shembe, Maglera Doe Boy, aifheli and Thato Saul —all key players in South African indie rap scene. So far we’re having a good time and the growth is quite evident here from each track delivered. True Sipho fans will surely appreciate the gift if this experience because there’s also so much richness and history to delve into.
I wanted to make a project that’s unapologetically underground and dedicated to championing independent-thinking artists,” he tells Apple Music. “This project is an ode to resilience and staying dedicated to my artist journey.
