Bring out the braai stands and light the coal, it’s time to get ready for the sunny season! As we kick off this years’ Spring/Summer season, nothing sounds better than taking some time out to relax and (safely) socialise with friends and family as we start to look forward to winding down in anticipation of the December festive break.
Music is an integral part of local culture, we soundtrack our lives through the moments of each day and even more so over the Summer. This is the time to start looking at the tracks that will define our Summer break and get our playlists ready!
We know that Summer playlists are often dominated by local artists and tracks mixed in with some top international hits, too. Spotify looked at the local hits that South Africans have enjoyed over the past few months to get an indication of which tracks will make it onto listeners lists. The latest releases from Cassper Nyovest, DJ Maphorisa and De Mthuda have claimed their spots amongst top international artists as part of the most streamed tracks by South Africans in the past 90 days.
Cassper Nyovest’s hit ‘Siyathandana’ took the first local spot on the list of top streamed tracks, followed by ‘Banyana’ by DJ Maphorisa,‘John Wick’ by De Mthuda and DJ Maphorisa again with ‘Izolo’, claiming the subsequent spots of local tracks in the list of the top 10 of most streamed tracks in the past 90 days.
Below is the full list of the most streamed tracks in South Africa in the past 90 days
