During the height of South African hip hop’s success, KLY was a key player, gaining fame with multiple hit songs and establishing himself as a top artist. Even though he made a big impact, he eventually stepped back from the spotlight, leading some fans to think he had left the hip-hop scene altogether.
Recently, we at SA Hip Hop 247 speculated that KLY might have stepped away from the music industry. In response, KLY directly addressed these claims, making it clear that he is still active in the industry, dismissing any rumors that he had left hip-hop behind.
“For those in the comments saying I left the race, I never did. Those who are tapped in, are tapped in, and those who aren’t will tap in eventually,” KLY stated.

Last year, KLY released an album titled THREE, featuring collaborations with artists like Riky Rick, Murumba Pitch, and YoungstaCPT. Although this album was a significant project, it didn’t have the same massive impact as his earlier hits like “SnapThatSh*t,” “Do Better,” and “Runners.” While his role in the industry has changed, his past successes continue to leave a strong impression.
