Creativity takes many forms. For some, it lies in the inspired excellence of cutting-edge photography and graphic design. For others it is found in a garment’s flow and swirl or the craftsmanship of an award winning brandy. In South Africa, with its unique heritage and outlook, it can be a heady mixture of all four.
That’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of Butan Creatives, a new platform that celebrates the creative talent of South Africa.
Butan Creatives will bring together photographers, videographers, fashion designers, and other creatives to collaborate on projects that showcase the diversity and richness of South African culture. The platform will also provide opportunities for emerging creatives to showcase their work and gain exposure to a wider audience.
The project is powered by KWV 3 Year Old Brandy, a brand that is synonymous with quality and craftsmanship. KWV 3 Year Old Brandy is also a brand that is deeply rooted in South African culture, making it the perfect partner for Butan Creatives.
The Butan Creatives team will be led by well-established photographer Mishaal Gangaram, who is renowned for the unexpected twists that he introduces into his work. He will be directing the first phase of the project, which includes creating photo and video lookbooks that explore the links between art, spirits, and garments.
The visual art team will also be energised by young directors and photographers such as Sheli Masondo, Beezybraidsza, Skye – Children of Midas, Alvyn Tona, Children of Midas, EddyStep, and more.
