Cassper Nyovest Talks Rappers Fear Of Amapiano Dominance

Are South African rappers somehow afraid of amapiano’s dominance in the Rainbow Nation? Cassper Nyovest thinks so – or so he tweeted recently, further igniting the debate on which genre is the in-thing.

In his tweet, the Family Tree rapper not only noted that his fellow rappers are worried about amapiano’s dominance but encouraged them to just focus on the music and drop something. The time is now to create, create, create.

Cassper Nyovest’s take elicited mixed reactions, with some tweeters noting that he was formerly into hip hop music but appeared to have ditched the genre briefly and delved into amapiano. Actually, that’s the case, and Cass has released a couple of his in the piano genre, as well as worked with some key voices in piano music.

Interestingly, Cassper Nyovest’s rival AKA wouldn’t be dragged into the hip hop versus amapiano conversation. He doesn’t care. According to him, as long as South African musicians are dropping great music that is doing great on the charts back home, that’s enough.

The hip-hop-amapiano debate has been on for as long as one can remember, and it’s doubtful that the conversation will end anytime soon. Some tweeps even think it’s great for the culture.
