MLAZI MILANO, ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE FOR USHUKELA ETIYENI, AND DROPS UTHANDO TO THE T, IN TIME FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

Okmalumkoolkat a.k.a Don Spovington last released an album in 2018 with the culture-defining Milazi Milano. In the years that would follow, the multifaceted artist would continue to expand the Spova world through merchandising, pop-up events and supporting musical releases including single Drip Siphi Iskorobho and EP Bhlomington.

When the New Year began, the Original Don Dada reflected on 2021 and celebrated the continued support, writing, “ Shoutout to promoters that made the booking with no album out and a big one to the fans who made me understand that my craft can really stand the test of time. A big shoutout to all the new talent that kick off tunes with a “Ishu! I really smelt those flowers.

Honouring his fans and giving rise to new talent, Okmalumkoolkat returns with his new single, Uthando To The T, featuring new Durban-based voice, Debra Nist. Sonically, Uthando To The T. references the musician’s previous love-ballad, Amalobolo. All the while lyrically expanding on his love story with the love of his life from lovers, to parents and companions. The title is also a clever play to differentiate the single from the rest of the Thandos.

Affirming the dedicated single, the Gqi hitmaker pushed forward the release of Uthando To The T to coincide with Princess Zulu’s birthday. The laid-back, mid-tempo bop is the first single from the much-anticipated and four years in the making album, Ushukela Etiyeni a.k.a EU. The 18-track album is expected for release on Friday, 29 April 2022 and this is what fans can expect:

“With his broad range of expression in the arts, we have seen him set dance, fashion, slang and musical trends as he seamlessly bobs and weaves through multiple genres without sounding out of place. Okmalumkoolkat’s latest album, Ushukela Etiyeni, is a fusion of musical styles that carry remnants of Kwaito, Gqom, Trap and alternative Euro Pop in a way that is distinctly him. The album has an array of features like Killer Kau (R.I.P), Nirvana Nokwe, DJ Tira and Beast, to name a few, all who all bring their unique talents, making the album a culture blend that reminds us why Okmalumkoolkat is the poster child when it comes to bridging the gap between suburban kids, township youth as well as the Braam lords,

Uthando To The T made the Africa Now Premier this past Wednesday on the popular Apple Music show, The Dotty Show at 17:00 CAT.
