Zimbabwean-born female rapper Charmaine is taking the world by storm with the release of her debut single ‘Bold’. The newest Warner Music Canada signee landed a deal with the record label shortly after settling in Toronto, Canada. She is without a doubt one of the biggest break-out stars from Zimbabwe, topping charts overseas and flying the African flag.
Charmaine and her family immigrated to North America in search of a better life, which led to multiple stops in the US before finally settling in Toronto, Canada where she now calls home. Shortly after they arrived in Toronto, her father got laid off from his job, turning all six of her family members to live in dirty motel rooms. The silver lining is that her struggle inspired her to pen lyrics in her notebook, dreaming of being any place but within the walls of a Motel 6.
Changing the narrative of female rappers from Africa- Charmaine continues to soar and keeps raising the bar. Her debut EP drops in 2021, details to follow in the future.
