Sjava’s nominations for the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards (DMVCA) by Multichoice have been confirmed withdrawn by Channel24.
The nominations were taken down due to the rape and other allegations against him. The singer received two nominations for Favourite Song of the Year and Favourite Music Artist or Group categories and was set to perform at the ceremony on Saturday, 14 March.
Executive Head of Corporate Affairs at MultiChoice South Africa, Reggy Moalusi said:
“The DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards has decided to withdraw the nomination of local artist Jabulani Hadebe popularly known as Sjava, from this year’s awards.
“This as a result of an ongoing investigation into the local performer by the authorities. The decision to remove Sjava’s eligibility, including cancelling his performance at the awards is not one that has been made lightly, but we believe is in the best interest of all parties concerned.”
Though, Sjava has claimed all allegations made against him by ex-lover, Lady Zamar to be false on Tuesday.
