American basketball player, Kobe Bryant and 13 years old daughter, Gianna were confirmed dead on Sunday evening, 26th of January.

The news of their death shook the world and South African celebrities mourn the icon’s death that was caused by chopper’s crash.

The likes of AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Pearl Thusi, Reason, Gail Mabalane, Boity and many others paid tributes on social media.

“As a Christian, sometimes I ask myself … why does God let these things happen? ? Like, what part of the plan is this? I don’t understand ? Kobe is one thing … but a 13 year old girl with her entire life to live. A great one at that! I don’t get it man. *sigh*” AKA said.

Pearl Thusi said; The Bryant family need all those who love them right now. To protect them and nurse these wounds that bleed through ones eyes and thunders through the silent screams of unfathomable pain. May God guide, heal and show them the most overwhelming love. The love that will drown their tears before they drown in them. This isn’t sad. It’s the ultimate tragedy to the human spirit. ?Kobe was being the type of father every mother prays for. Taking her and a team mate to a basketball game. They say everything happens for a reason… sometimes I’m conflicted by my own beliefs when things like this happen.”

“R.I.P @kobebryant and your daughter Gigi, you one of the greatest to ever do it! Sometimes we question God upon he’s decisions, we will never know why the best people in our life’s have to go so soon. A very sad day for the WHOLE WORLD,PRAYERS TO THE BRYANT FAMILY,” Jub Jub said.

Gail Mabalane shared; “I can’t quite wrap my head around this one. ? I cannot even begin to imagine…what your wife and kids must be feeling. ?????????Rest In Peace Kobe and your beautiful daughter Gianna. Rest in peace to the other souls who lost their lives in this tragedy. ? ?? Prayers to the families.”
